Okay, hear me out! Not all collagen supplements are a scam, but most are!

We need collagen for tissue repair and maintenance. In fact, collagen makes up three-quarters of the dry weight of our skin! But, starting at age 21, we lose about 1% of our collagen every year.

For our skin, collagen is supposed to boost elasticity, reduce wrinkles and improve moisture. But there’s very limited evidence to back up most of their claims. In fact, the only form of collagen that’s proven by research to boost skin elasticity and hydration is hydrolyzed collagen.

Unfortunately, most of these supplements are not heavily regulated by the FDA. So, their safety is not well-established. In fact, the FDA has recalled some collagen supplements due to their overpromising false claims.
